Seventh Rule Recordings,the label that makes us rich, has started a bandcamp webpage. What does that mean for you? It means that our first LP, Gather Scatter, is available there for your downloading pleasure.

The album is free to download and to stream. There are all sorts of format choices and most of them are of much higher quality than the other internet choices. You probably knew that you could download it for free anyway via all sorts of nefarious sources. We're just cutting out the middle man and offering you better quality.

You can also pay for the release via Bandcamp by naming your price when you download. You have always had the option to get the album for free, and you still do. We're just giving you another option and letting you decide it's value.

If it was up to us, you'd just buy the vinyl anyway...

It's winter, which means that Chicago is cold. It also means that we have nothing better to do than to stay inside and write songs. At some point that gets boring though, so we've decided to brave the elements and play a show. Here are the details:

We're playing a lot of new stuff at this show because it's Pancho's, and Pancho's is Logan Square's answer to Outback Steakhouse....No Rules, just right. Also, Pancho has been known to break out the sax from behind the bar and do his best Lost Boys impression. You've been warned.

The first 25 through the door will get a holiday grab bag of epic proportions. Millions vinyl, Hunters CDs, and Wizardcastle Dungeons and Dragons Dice. Why? Cause your ears need a saving throw, and we're the DM.

Before Scott Flaster became "the muscle"/Millions skullcracker/Seventh Rule Overlord, he was a boy with a dream. That dream was to become the world's greatest saxophone player. Had he stuck with it, his dream gigs would have been as follows:

- Guy who played on "Heart of Rock n Roll"

- Guy who played the solo on "Never Tear Us Apart"

Instead he switched to guitar and just whistles Yakety Sax to himself whenever tragedy strikes. Who knows what could have happened had he stuck with it....

East Coast Shows this Weekend + Scott's Birthday

In honor of Scott's birthday, and to play some great shows and see some of our favorite people, we'll be playing a series of shows on the east coast this weekend. Check the dates on the side for full details. Brooklyn on Friday will be first and it can't come soon enough. We always have a great time there. Saturday will be Baltimore. Sunday will be Philadelphia.

Please make sure Scott has a good time on his birthday. If everyone would gather around him at some point and give him a Bennigan's/Chili's style birthday song, that would probably be his ultimate birthday wish. Make it happen.

It's no secret that here at Camp Millions, we are all fans of the vinyl format. Record Store Day is pretty cool to us and we hope you plan on leaving your parent's basement tomorrow and coming out to support your local record store. You might even see us hitting the Chicago stores getting the rare QOTSA, Soundgarden, Springsteen, and Pantera gems we feel we need.

This is our contribution to the Record Store Day celebration by doing what we enjoy.

We are all big fans of Nirvana's "In Utero" album so we chose the song that fit us best and recorded it during the Panic Program session.

Of course we had to play it faster than the original.

Yo internet! It's been awhile since we talked to you. Let's get down to business....

Yes, the EP is still on schedule. You should go ahead and preorder it from Brutal Panda. It's only being released on vinyl for right now. Why you might ask? Well... CDs are clunky, dumb, and make for excellent backup/data transfer devices, but as a listening medium, they are antiques. In 1995, a CD made sense. In 2010, they're AOL....And even AOL quit sending out CDs! See...It's all coming together.

Yes, we have shows coming up. Details on those later.

The big news... Decibel Magazine is hosting a contest to win our new EP. If you know your useless Scott Flaster facts, you might just win the contest. And even if you don't know Scott Flaster from John Amos, you can probably just look on our last LP and get the answer.

NEW MILLIONS EP TO SEE RELEASE THIS MARCH!

We are proud to announce that Brutal Panda Records will be releasing our new EP, 'Panic Program'.

The EP will be available in 7" vinyl format and will feature 4 brand new tracks.

The tracks were recorded this past November at Bricktop Recording in Chicago, IL with Andy Nelson (Harpoon, Weekend Nachos) handling production duties, and mastering being taken care of by Carl Saff (Young Widows, The Atlas Moth).

The press will be limited to 500 copies with 300 on green and 200 on black.

You can hear the first track off the EP, "Kept Alive By Drugs And Magick" right here via MySpace.

'Panic Program' will see an early March vinyl-only release with pre-orders being taken via the official Brutal Panda site here.

MILLIONS "VERY STRANGE" BRICKTOP SESSIONS

In what seemed like a genius idea, we booked studio time before we left for Europe. The idea being that we had new songs and after playing them every night for a month straight, what better time to record? We enlisted the engineering skills of Andy Nelson at Bricktop Recording. He had recorded the Harpoon and Weekend Nachos full lengths and those sounded stellar. Andy also does guitar / pick slides in Weekend Nachos, and their shows are worth a night leaving your couch.

So after being home for a couple weeks from our Euro binge, we awoke on a Saturday morning, went to the practice space to load up, then headed to the Pilsen neighborhood where Bricktop was located.

It was very strange doing anything post tour without Ralph, our European tour manager / driver, so these sessions are named in tribute to him.

We loaded into the studio and got situated in a room that could fit us all. The idea was to set up in the same room, mic us all up, and get an energetic live recording. Vocals would be tracked separately and of course the guitar feedback overdubs would be done later.

Some history about the building where Bricktop resides. It's basically an old warehouse full of rubber gloves, raincoats, furniture, coveralls, and a completely out of place Fender Rhodes. This place used to be right down the street from the Maxwell Street Market so it got a ton of foot traffic and people would come in from all over to buy their gear. Now the market has moved and the people have stopped coming. It feels sort of like a fossil from those Maxwell Street days. Needless to say, we felt very comfortable and were able to knock the songs out in a short amount of takes.

We walked out of there with four originals and a cover of Nirvana's "Tourette's". We will post the Nirvana cover here in the next couple weeks as soon as we finish mixing.

The new material is MILLIONS moving in a forward direction for sure.

Or perhaps we are moving sideways.

These four songs recorded... Are they to be an EP? Material for some seven inch splits with other bands? How bout our 2009 demo? The history is yet to be written. We're really happy with how they turned out and can't wait to unleash them on the unsuspecting public.

Dresden

Dresden - After spending most of the day in Prague, we left for Dresden in the late afternoon. Daylight savings had kicked in the night before, but darkness had fallen by the time we hit Dresden two hours later and we didn't get to see much scenery.

It was set in our minds that we would be travelling home the next day and we had started to sort through what needed to be done before we left town. Perhaps it would have been a better idea to think about these things after we had played the show!

The show was at Az Conni which was a very nice venue that Ralph our driver had been a part of for the last ten years and he made sure to get us plenty of beer and delicious food. The sleeping quarters were in a building next door, so with the crisp Fall air, the whole night had a "camp" feel to it.

We played with Framestar who sounded like a tasteful cross between Refused and Turbonegro and their set was flawless. Daniel who had given us shelter upon our initial arrival in Berlin was the vocalist and it was nice to see him again.

As the fairy tale goes, the last show of a tour is supposed to be the tightest, most energetic, and the last shot at redemption. Thinking back on all our past tours, this only happens 50% of the time and the other half can be filed as crash and burn. No fairy tale took place in Dresden.

Not feeling fully satisfied with the night, Scott and Mark set out to find one last döner kebab meal to bring back to camp and they were successful. We are sure the smell was still in the air at 5 am when we left for Berlin and our flight home.

And with that....Our tour of Europe was over.

90+ Hours in a Van in 26 Days: Millions Reading List

Staving off boredom in the van can be challenging when you're looking riding in the thing 26 days in a row. And for some reason we made it harder on ourselves this trip by trying to not listen to music on the stereo in the van. Personal iPods and whatnot were fine, but we opted to not subject everyone to our horrible individual tastes in music. Odd as it sounds, it was a nice change of pace. The only thing coming out of the front of the van that we could all hear were the soothing sounds of the German GPS and, when in Germany, Ralph listening to talk radio. That was actually kind of relaxing, something about talk radio that you can't understand a word of is perfect for lulling you to sleep.

Anyway, we read a lot of books, watched a fair amount of TV shows and listened to some sweet jams while whittling away the hours in the van for a month...

Corey:

Prague

Prague - One of our favorite shows of the tour. It was about time that we played a show that we all felt good about. It was promoted as HC /NOISE, so people knew exactly what they were getting into.

We showed up at the club and it just felt different. First off, the guy running the parking lot was pretty sure that we all spoke Czech even though we were only talking to him in English. Ralph tried German too I think. Didn't matter....He was giving very lengthy descriptions in Czech. We were pretty lost.

The club is in the basement of a college dorm. It was cheap, and the sound was good. Goulash was provided for food and it ruled.

The first band that played was Transwaggon. It was the promoter, Kejmy's band. They were great and ended their set with a Husker Du cover dedicated to us. After Vicenza, it was nice to play with a band that fit with us.

Remember those roses stolen from Italy? We put them up on the stage and told people to take them during the set as a gift from us. They were gone before we were done. Gotta remember that trick.

Our set was probably one of our better ones. People were way into it. Double encore too!

After the show we went to the merch table and sold thousands of Czech crowns worth of merch. This was exciting! Then we realized what the exchange rate of Czech crowns to Euro was....Not as exciting (still pretty good though).

The next day we woke up and got to do some cool sightseeing in Prague. Some of the only sightseeing of the trip....We picked a pretty good place to do it.

Then it was on to Dresden to play Az Conni, a collective of which Ralph was part of. This would be our last show of the tour.

Vicenza

Vicenza - Seems like anything would have been a let down after waking up in one of the most beautiful places we've ever been. The drive here was pretty cool though cause we found a gas station that doubled as a full on meat pantry! Unfortunately some of the goods acquired out of haste and excitement didn't make it through US customs. D'oh!

The venue in Vicenza was very fancy and there was a band flat directly above the venue which was great. There were some issues with the toilet....Namely that it wouldn't flush. At first we blamed our dumb American-ness, but it turned out to be a legitimate issue. The promoter, Erico, helped us figure out the trouble after initially offering Mark a box to remove his leavings.

After that it was downstairs for soundcheck and free pizza! The pizza was insane and we each got a whole one to ourselves which came in handy later in the night. They also had Lagavulin behind the bar. It didn't last the night.

The show was well attended, but we're pretty sure nobody was there to see us. In fact, many people were probably a little bit shocked by what was happening. We may have stood a better chance with a spoken word set taking turns reading Steven Hawking's "A Brief History Of Time" to the crowd. So it goes. We were probably a little loud for the venue too. The other band, Cruel Boxes sounded like a cross between Thrice and Alexisonfire. Yes, we know what those bands sound like. Not sure they were a good fit for us, but a little variety never hurts. At least the bartenders and Erico seemed to like us!

After Cruel Boxes had ended their set, they had their beautiful Italian girlfriends occupy the merchandise table. This is always a great idea except these ladies took no shame in boxing us out of the area so we had no chance of selling anything! Sometime during the night, 4 roses were bought and given to these women. Now we aren't exactly sure how it happened or who was involved, but those roses left with us the next day on our 10 hour drive to Prague.

Lucca

Lucca - Leaving Schauffhausen around noon we continued on through the Alps into Italy. We were aiming for a 5pm rendezvous at Mike Persil's house just outside of Pisa. With Ralph at the wheel driving with determination, this only left time for fuel, bathroom, and smoke breaks.

The scenery was amazing overall, except a 17km tunnel through the mountain which tested everyone's underlying claustrophobia.

Mike Persil was the man who was behind booking this tour for us and it was a pleasure to meet him and he welcomed us with 1 lb of prosciutto and two bottles of excellent Chianti. What a generous host!

The show was at a upscale bar/restaurant and we can only describe our set as tiny daggers into the hearts of the Italian people which made them slowly run for cover.

Later that night we stayed at the promoters house, out in the Tuscan countryside. One of the cool things on tour is arriving to where you're sleeping at 1 AM and not really knowing where you're at, then waking up and discovering you're either in a shithole or paradise, or somewhere in between. Now we appreciate everyone who has given us a place to stay through the years as we have been on tour, but waking up in this countryside was quite memorable beyond everything.

At 5 AM we were awoken by roosters, grabbed a few more hours asleep then discovered we were in the middle of some incredible scenic Tuscan hills. Pomegranate and olive trees and grapes growing on vines just beats the allure of dirty toilets and bathtubs with broken drains.

Schauffhausen

Schauffhausen - We drove through the Swiss Alps on this drive. It was just the start of it, and we'd get to see a whole lot more of them as the trip went on.

We got to the venue and it was another really professional place. It was probably a 300 capacity room which was one of the bigger places we've played on the tour. Good sound, decent crowd for a school night in a pretty small town (30,000?). We played pretty well.

After the show we walked the streets trying to find somewhere to eat. There was nothing. Massive bummer. We wound up splitting 2 snack packs of chips between 4 people. That didn't go so well.

Later in the night, Mark took his socks off for the first time in 4 days. It cleared the room out. Pat wound up sleeping somewhere else in the house just to get away from the smell. Foot powder and open windows wound up saving the day eventually.

The next day it was off to Italy, specifically Tuscany, to meet Mike Persil.

Munich

Munich -

Awesome sound system at this show and possibly the best food spread so far. Tasty ass olives, meats, salad... good stuff. Really took care of us here.

After the show we stayed at a complex called BACKSTAGE which had multiple venues and had hosted both an ARCHIVE and PETER MURPHY show that night. Both groups got wind we were staying there and left town before we even got there, leaving us with a sleeping place all to ourselves.

The next morning we woke up and were made breakfast as a fantasy metal tour package loaded in. Awesome.

Leipzig

Leipzig - I think we all agree the venue in Leipzig, Zoro, was one of the coolest of the trip so far. Another squat, converted from an old school, with a couple spaces for shows and a nice kitchen and accommodations for the many bands that come through here. We played with Teenage Cool Kids and Algernon Cadwallader, also American bands. It was good to shoot the shit and discuss our mutual experiences touring Europe. When we drove up the venue they were walking down the street menacingly eating ice cream cones...

A couple people cooked us some really, really good vegan food - and this is Corey writing this, so you know it kinda hurts him to say that. Gonna steal that potato dumpling recipe,,,

Played a fun show in the downstairs show area, which had a cool, rusty, steampunk in Freddy Krueger's basement vibe going on. Good turnout and the other bands killed shit as well.

Cologne (Day Off)

Cologne (Day Off) – Not too much to say about this. We ate some tasty Lebanese food and walked down the Rhine River by the Cathedral. We got some rest. Corey was feeling much better. We watched some Curb Your Enthusiasm. Nice relaxing day off.

Paris

Paris – The most well put together, professional show we’ve ever been a part of. Easily. We pull up in the van and standing there on the sidewalk is the promoter, a technical director, and about 20 stagehands waiting to unload all of our gear. We are in the right place right???

Everything is ready to go within minutes, they give us a dressing room (not kidding) with a TV and soundboard mix coming through the speakers so that we can keep an eye on how the shows going without going out there.

There is a full catering spread which they have people serving to us while we just sit there. Wine and beer is plentiful.

After sound check we walk around a bit and Mark buys some street sausage that winds up being the finest sausage he’s ever eaten. Corey, although he still can’t keep any food down, tries a bite and agrees, it’s the best.

Back at the show, we get our backstage passes and watch the other bands. Alpinist plays and completely kills it. Nice guys too. Probably one of our favorite bands that we've seen for the whole tour so far. They sound a lot like His Hero is Gone. Corey likes this.

We play and although Corey is weak from malnourishment, the show goes well, we might be a little lower energy than usual, but it’s tough when one person hasn’t eaten a meal in 48 hours. People are dancing and kind of going crazy while we play. It’s a pretty amazing thing to see. There is good banter with the crowd, and we get asked to do an encore….For some reason the French seem to get our music. It’s cool that someone does! The people there seem very appreciative, and we feel the same way.

Then comes the best part…..The people who put on the show got us three hotel rooms to stay at, which are about a five minute drive from the venue. Insane!

The next day, Scott and Mark woke up and went to a nearby Farmers Market, which was scrumtrulescent. Anything you can think of was there. Fresh seafood, the best cuts of meat, thousands of kinds of crazy cheeses you’d never see elsewhere, tons of different breads and rolls and croissants. Scott got some rotisserie cooked rabbit, a sausage, and a baguette. Mark got a rotisserie tenderloin kabob, a sausage and an apple raisin baguette. Awesome….

Walking the Farmers Market

Utrecht

Utrecht – The Netherlands rule. The people are the best, the venue we played at was great, the food they made us was top notch prepared by professional chefs. Everything about it felt like it was done the right way.

Utrecht itself is sort of like a twin city with Amsterdam. They’re about 20 minutes apart, and connected by train lines. The same stuff that you love about Amsterdam is here.

We already put pictures of puppies on the blog....Here's a rainbow now too.

We play much better at the show tonight, which is a relief. It’s a pretty Corey light set because he is still a wreck. He’s unable to eat pretty much anything. His enjoyment of Utrecht is seriously inhibited, but he gives it his best effort.

After the show we go back to the squat where we’re staying at which is a pretty amazing place, and Mark leans on the police alarm which wakes up the entire complex. Everyone runs down in various stages of undress and Mark is standing there on the phone telling them what a dumb American he is. They all look a little angry, but turn to smiles after a couple minutes with humor at our expense.

Trier

Trier – This will come to be known as the show where we get our first eyewitness encounter with the phenomenon known as crabcore. We will never be the same….

This is also notable as the town where Corey would get sick….Again. This time we’re guessing from, in a total Homer Simpson moment, eating a stray piece of ham that was in a tabouleh salad that he bought at a gas station.

The show itself was at a huge building that was built by Napoleon and is now a complex that does all sorts of community functions. It is part youth facility, part performance space, part music venue….It also houses the bands that play there. It’s the sort of thing that would never fly in the United States.

The first band, City Light Thief plays and is good.

Then comes the second band crabfest…..A band who’s name we won’t mention, goes on and does the full techno, autotune, DJ, “crouching emo/hidden metal” thing that crabcore is all about. Plus, the dudes are in their 30s! At one point the bass player was pretty close to doing the splits. Corey stands there for a full 15 minutes in complete horror. Mark doesn’t make it more than a minute. However, people seemed very into them. They take about 30 minutes to get their gear off stage (which the storage area is about 5 paces from where they played), and then they immediately leave. Thanks dudes!

I think there needs to be a word for something that's so simultaneously awful and awesome at the same time, like a brutal car wreck... or that band.

We play and it’s not so good. I think our minds were just melted from the crabulous rockin’ that preceded us. Whatever, we had a bad show. It happens.

The first band helps us load out without us even having to ask which totally rules. That’s rare over in Europe, even when the other band uses your gear.

Corey wakes up the next morning completely unable to keep food down. Damn. You know, he thought if he got food illness in Europe it would be from some mystery meat sandwich in Italy or horse brains or something. Haggis? Fine. Oysters? A-Ok. Random sausage stand on the street? Perfect! But tabouleh? Really? Lessons learned: Stay away from airplane and gas station food, period.

Lille

Lille – This show was interesting for a few reasons. First off, we walked in, looked at the walls, and realized that the band Anvil had played here during their tour of Europe that was documented in the movie, Anvil: The Story of Anvil. Right then we got freaked out….We hoped our show would work out a little better. (oh snap! a little googling found this)

We loaded in and did sound check, and we noticed a somewhat funky odor but didn’t think much of it. Eventually they showed us the band room, which was underneath the show room and we discovered where the funky smell was coming from. It was incredibly strong, and it smelled like someone forgot to change 100 cat litter boxes for about a year, and then tried to finally clean it by scrubbing it with ammonia, nail polish remover, and a sponge consisting of burnt hair. Yeah, try screaming and breathing all that in for half an hour... ewwww.

Despite all this, the show went well. Good crowd. Even some old friends from Michigan were there! There was a decibel meter in the corner that showed what level all the bands were hitting. We have no idea what level would trigger it, or what it would do, but we tried to max it out. Who knows if we did.

Corey in Middle Earth

After the show, we ate some pasta and then the promoter, Stan took us back to this chateau in the French countryside where we stayed for the night. Couldn't see much of the outside at night when we got there, but goddamn the next morning we saw we were surrounded by almost stereotypical picturesque French scenery.

Mark stepped in some really fresh dog poop the next morning before getting into the van.

Gent

Gent – We thought Gent was going to be a small little show in a small little town where we’d finally get some much needed rest. We were way off!

They do something similar to Freshers here too so the streets were packed with people. What they make the kids do here is basically sell useless stuff. For example, a couple came up to us and tried to sell us an apple for one euro. Another girl came up and tried to sell us a flyer for a euro. If they don’t sell the item, they have to do some sort of dare. The dare usually involves some sort of drinking challenge. And if they lose the drinking challenge? SOUPY GARLICY SHIT IN THE HAIR.

We played the show at The Frontline, which is sort of an unmarked club in the middle of town. Pretty fun show, we sold a good amount of merch again. Then it gets nuts….

We played the show with the band Last Minute to Jaffna. They are from Italy. Their sound guy Rocco could open beer bottle with his teeth. Our host, Aimee took all of us out on the town. A 10 person group. We walked the streets, saw the city at night, and found some cool places to duck into.

Corey and the drummer from Last Minute to Jaffna had a 45 minute conversation about food.

Then back at Aimee’s the Italian guys decide to cook everyone spaghetti. They have a travelling kitchen that they bring with them on the road so that they can cook all the time. Stoves, pasta makers, homemade sauce, ingredients, utensils….The whole thing. 5AM pasta dinner in Gent? Corey and Scott on their iPhones?

The next day we woke up and went to the Castle. We toured the city, where there are actually a lot of cool old buildings. Beautiful freakin' place.

And Amadeus....Where they compose a mean set of ribs we hear....

Le Havre

Le Havre - We made it back to the mainland, and drove across France for a little while, excited for the amazing sandwiches that you can get at gas stations here. Honestly, they are better than any sub shop in America. Now I know what you're saying, "Can it really be better than the handiwork of the fine sandwich artists at Subway?" Yes folks, it is. Jared has been lying to you for all these years. Don't trust him.

Also, fancy cheeses at the rest areas...

After load in we walked over to a brasserie next to the town hall and had escargot, foie gras, and mussels. It was great.

They had this cooler in the restaurant.

The show went way better than expected. There was no guarantee, and it was a Monday so we didn't know if there would be 3 people there or 300 people. Turnout was decent for a Monday and we sold some stuff, actually quite a bit of stuff.

Our host, Roulio then took us back to his apartment and we were introduced to Picon which made the night more enjoyable. Some of the other guys from the show were also staying at the apartment.

The next morning we woke up and went to a market to pick up supplies for the road. Supplies in this case = baby wipes, dryer sheets to make dirty clothes smell better, canned foie gras, water and kid sized apple juice boxes.

Taller Than Einstein, the Same Height as Cindy Crawford

Leeds –

After not wanting to leave Edinburgh….Ever...we hit the road for our big show in Leeds. The Who album thing that I’m sure every band mentions when they play Leeds was on our minds too…We’re not very original.

We got into Leeds late so we had no time to see the town at all really.

This show had all sorts of wackiness. The first part of October in England have this thing called freshers….It’s where all the 18 year olds go out and get wasted and write with sharpies on each other, and generally act like jackasses. Well, our show in Leeds was right in the middle of freshers week, so we go into the band room before we play, and some kid is peeing all over the place. Mostly on the floor, but some of it on our gear as well. The bar throws him out of the room, then makes him clean it up. The bar arranges for Mark to go talk to the kid, who is very apologetic, but also very drunk and he says he mistook the room for a toilet. He then tries to shake Mark’s hand….Mark has some unkind words to say to the kid, and does not shake his pee soaked hand. We are later told that people from the bar walked him to a cash machine and made him take out 50 pounds. And he cried. He'll never pee again.

We play…..It’s ok, but nowhere near The Who's recorded performance. Manatees played too and killed it. We had to follow them. That was tough.

After the show, we come to find out that it’s been raining all night and we have to load our equipment down 2 flights of slippery outdoor metal stairs! Leeds!

Doner pizza after the show…Not our greatest idea. English breakfast complete with black pudding the next morning, much better idea.

London –

This show was a birthday show for the promoter, who’s name was Lloyd. Awesome guy. Maybe kind of had a slightly older, British John Benetti thing going on? The best part of this show, was that they had a Rottweiler living on the roof, and a backyard full of Rottweiler puppies.

This show was jam packed….7 bands. Oh, and the music had to end at 11PM. We were playing with Attack! Vipers! again, which was a good thing. Those dudes rule. It was actually tough to keep track of who was playing and when. Also, there were two backlines for the show, one for the first half and one for the second half. Ours was for the second half.

Friends came out….That was nice.

After the show we went back to Ryan and Jess’ place. Ryan runs the EYESOFSOUND label and has put out some killer music. Their apartment is insanely awesome. I think we all wanted to live on their back deck. And they were food nerds, always a plus. Mmmm... cave matured fancy cheese.

This was also notable as the show where Scott discovered the Daft Punk app on his iPhone.

Brighton -
Throughout the UK leg of our tour everyone was hyping up this town, the "San Francisco of the UK", and it totally lived up to the hype. Cool vibe, interesting people, lots of cool graffiti...

Scott and Ralph took a bro-mantic walk on the pier before the show and talked about getting old by the sea...

Played at a venue called the Prince Albert, once again with the always awesome Attack! Vipers!, who helped Scott looked more glamorous on stage than usual by pointing a fan towards his silky Fabio hair... but seemed to take offense to Mark's bass in the process, "accidentally" unplugging his gear. I guess that's what you get from a guy who exclusively wears shirts of Louisville bands ...jk.

After the show and a couple more pints we retired for the evening, bidding farewell to the UK early the next morning as we headed back to the mainland... first stop, La Havre, France. More on that later, but let's just saying getting out of the UK was a helluva lot easier than getting in.

The U.K. Part II

Nottingham - We had zero idea what to expect from this show, and it wound up being our best show of the tour so far. Double encore, people calling out our song names. Good people were involved with playing and promoting the show. Damn good food provided by the venue as well - curry for the vegetarians, lamb chili for the rest.

But as with all things related to Millions, it couldn't go off without a hitch. While we were loading in, and standing next to the van, we got a parking ticket. We tried to talk to the cops, but they didn't care. They just stood there passive aggressively photographing the van and writing the ticket. Dumb.

Edinburgh -

We pulled up at the venue and were greeted with food, beer, water, a castle, and an apartment to stay in with a washing machine that was directly above where we were playing....Amazing! All of this was provided by the Scottish twin of Jamie Getz (from Gods & Queens). I hope they play there on the upcoming European tour just to see the looks on their faces when they meet each other.

After loading in and sound checking, we walked around for a bit. We could barely walk a couple feet without seeing something old and awesome and being gawky tourists. Literally right down the street was Edinburgh Castle, a huge structure built on top of a rocky hill and looming over the whole city.
Walked around a bit looking for some good local food, haggis was had by some, and oysters by others to balance it out. Gotta say, the haggis was pretty good, but then again you can deep fry pretty much anything (and you can't get much more "anything" than haggis). Back to the venue where we sampled a small portion of the venue's 100 whiskeys. Yes, 100. I think Lagavulin was the clear winner. First order of business when we get back to the states is tracking that stuff down.

The show was fun and the crowd was a little more lively than most we've had which is always a plus. Hung out with Chris the promoter and Rob the sound guy (also a current member of The Exploited) into the wee hours of the morning then after some rest in our pimped out accommodations (beer, bed + shower = pimped out when you're on tour), it was off to Leeds...

But not before....2 PARKING TICKETS!!!!

The U.K. Part I

High Wycombe - Well after the ordeal of going through British Immigration, which we're not going to talk about on here, but needless to say we made it... we made the drive to High Wycombe, which is a smallish town just outside London. The show had changed venues a few days beforehand and we were a little worried about that. It turns out that it didn't matter (though the prog rock nerds in the band were a little disappointed it was no longer at The Roundabout). We played at a place called the Nags Head, which has a lot of history associated with it. According to local legend, David Bowie and The Rolling Stones had played there. So logically, we are the next David Bowie and/or the Rolling Stones, as were all the other bands at the show. The bands we played with were great dudes and they tolerated our multiple stories from the past few days. We'd be playing more shows with them too. Afterwards we went back to the house of Action and Action. Internet! Showers! American TV! Chili!

Exeter - Actually, this was one of the cooler venues that we've played. It was called the Cavern, and lived up to it's name with it's... caverny qualities. And it was right in the middle of a sort of bustling downtown/college area. Rumor had it that the kids just got their student load money so this show was gonna do well hopefully. It was on a Monday night though so we couldn't tell. In the end, the turnout was decent.Afterwards, we went out on the town for a bit with some of the dudes from Ono Palindromes. They took us to this bar where Scott said he got the most amazing burger ever. Better than Kumas? Scott said he thought it was....

Speaking of which, it was on one of these drives, all of which kind of blur together, that we went on a chip binge. Got all kinds of weird-to-us flavors like roast beef, prawns, worcester sauce and ham and mustard (which was a lot better than it sounds). Kinda balanced out the mostly healthy vegetarian/vegan meals we've been getting at the venues.

Southampton - We got to this venue early and we walked around town. There was an awesome record store nearby where this guy who looked like a British version of the owner of Mays Records....Or for those of you unfamiliar with Mays Records, he looked like The Cryptkeeper from Tales from the Crypt. He was wearing a blown out white sweatshirt stained with food and smoke that had a duck on it that said "Somebody in New Zealand Loves Me". Jerk chicken was consumed at Hudson's.

We also found a "fine art" gallery that had nothing but clown paintings. Clown dangling a hot dog on a fork and making a dog dance? Yep! Clown playing a saxophone? Got that too!

The show had a pretty rough load in (upstairs) but we managed. Action and Action played again, and this time it was their lead singer Ambrose's birthday (along with Mark's). Fun show. Very hot upstairs though, possibly surpassing an outdoor show in Orlando in the middle of summer last year.

La Louvière

This was one of the weirdest shows we've ever played. La Louvière is a small Belgian village. Unemployment is over 25%. We got to the venue and nobody spoke English. Our rudimentary knowledge of French didn't seem to go very far either. There was a table of people sitting around playing cards, and they phoned a friend who spoke very crude English and basically told us to leave for a couple of hours and come back.....Somebody would eventually show up who would know what was going on. So we did...

There were lots of shops, cafes and restaurants around the venue. Bars too. Basically the shell of a once bustling downtown. Definitely a weird vibe going on in the town we couldn't quite put our finger on, but that 25% unemployment rate certainly played a part. Not necessarily sketchy, just... not quite right. There were people chanting things in unison on the streets....We got lots of stares. We got back to the venue and still nobody was there. They ordered some pizza for us and we drank some good Belgian beer. From there the story goes downhill....

This was really our first challenge of a show. I think most of it was a language barrier on our part, part of it was economic, and part was just circumstance. We could not load in until the first band played, minus the gear that they borrowed.

Once we got loaded in we realized that some of our gear (Mark's pedal) wouldn't work in the Belgian power outlets because of some strange grounding issue.

Then we play...

First song, Scott falls down a staircase on the side of the stage. He tries to come back up to the mic and he biffs his eye. Cut wide open....Big shiner.

The last song, we play "We Make Poor Decisions". The bass sounds like the Seinfeld bass tone. This older woman at the end of the bar gets really excited because she thinks some Parliament/Funkadelic epic space jam is coming up....she is disappointed.

Despite all of this, the turnout is decent. People outside tell us they like it. However, we sell zero merchandise. Zip. Nada. That hasn't happened yet. We all were kind of frustrated.

On top of that the sound guy tells us he won't give us our full guarantee because we only played for "15 minutes". We explain that we played a full 30 minutes actually, 8 songs, longer than our album, and we didn't tune or talk.....We just played. Additionally, Scott cut his eye open and there was some uncertainty whether he needed to go to the hospital for stitches. He says he told us we needed to play 40 minutes to get paid in full. We ask who he told that to, he points in a random direction and says "a guy in your band".

Long story short, we got the cash out of him. On the way back to the hotel, we got pulled over by Belgian police. They checked our papers and let us go. We weren't doing anything wrong, I think it was just weird for them to see a van full of dudes in their town.

The guy who put on the show, Ben, was a great guy. The other band was also very nice. Just a rough night. We were due for one of those.

On the plus side, Corey found some charcuterie. Prosciutto di Parma=happiness

Then we went to bed back at a small Belgian hotel....

Essen

Got into Essen after a long drive from Copenhagen. We had to take the ferry back across the Baltic Sea and then go about 5 more hours in the van.

Fun fact: Did you know that they charge to pee at many restrooms in Europe? We paid 50 cents each and walked through a turnstile just to go to the bathroom. Later we found out that they give you a coupon when you pay which you can reuse at other rest areas. Mark, the packrat, of course kept his. Pat was not so lucky. Later on, we saw someone obviously gaming the system peeing outside.

We arrived in Essen. It is the definition of a sleepy German village. Walking around, there did not seem to be much going on. Not even a convenience store to buy snacks near the venue. We found the city center, but there didn't seem to be much happening. The show was again, well attended, we got paid and sold a bunch of stuff. Ralph (our driver) said it was easily our best show of the tour so far. I think we felt like we had a lot to prove because the other bands had a lot of energy and were very good. The first band was called Coming Up for Air. They were a German local band and they hadn't even practiced in 4 months. We couldn't even remember our songs if we stopped playing for 2 weeks! Dominic was the second band. They were from Norway. Also very good....Both bands were full of nice people too.

Copenhagen

We have fallen in love with Copenhagen. The city has it all. Good food, interesting stuff to do, everyone who lives here is beautiful....seriously. It looks like a city full of only really, really, really good looking people. It's like the anti-Chicago. And they're all incredibly nice and hospitable on top of that. The only downside....it's a little cold here. They're wearing winter jackets already.

Before the show, we went out to a middle eastern buffet that was a few blocks from the venue. It hit the spot. All vegetarian, but even Corey thought it was awesome. Then we all kind of did our own things for a bit. The Olympic festival was just down the street from the venue. You could overhear the word "Obama" all over town. You heard it so much we were convinced it was a Danish word for "stinky American band".

We played the show. It was fun. Pretty well attended. We sold some stuff and got paid in Kroners. Then after the show our host Andreas and his roommate Jeppe took us out on the town. That was a blast! We just wandered around Copenhagen and went into whatever places looked like they might be fun. Tuborg was consumed along with some sort of liquor that tasted like cough medicine and Andreas told us was made with rotten fish. He also told us Americans always fall for it when he tells him this. Haha.

Then Scott got his hands on a bike....

After some 4 AM falafel and hot dogs we walked back home and slept for the night. Then we woke up a few short hours later and drove back to Germany to play a show in Essen....

Berlin & Copenhagen

In Berlin we arrived at the venue and were allowed to park right out front! We loaded in. It took us about an hour to dial in our tones, restring guitars, tune drums, etc. Corey felt 100% again, which was a relief to everyone. We played a pretty long set tonight. Probably just short of 45 minutes. No locals on the show probably hurt the turnout a bit. We sold some stuff, and made some money from the door. Scul Hazzards challenged us to a band game of foosball. Don't play against them for money.

Later in the night we ate some amazing döner kebab. That was a highlight of the trip so far foodwise.

It was a good first night. We got our footing.

Then we woke up this morning and crossed the Baltic Sea into Denmark by ferry.

This was cool. There is probably a lot of wind in the video.....But if you want realism, this is how windy it really is.

We have landed in Berlin. Corey has vomited twice....Once on the plane, and once after eating dinner. He thinks he ate some bad yogurt on the plane. Either way, there seems to be some sort of food poisoning thing going on.

The rest of us are doing great. We met Ralph who will be our guide and leader over the next few weeks. We also met Daniel who we are staying with tonight. Both are absolutely awesome.

We ate some awesome Arabian food for dinner and now Scott and Pat are drinking Budvar, and Mark is drinking a Rothhaus. Corey is sticking with water and tea....

Tomorrow is our first show in Europe and we are stoked....and hoping Corey gets over his food issues.

So we have pressed some vinyl of Gather Scatter. More info on pressing runs, pricing, ordering info, etc. to follow.

One of the pressings is clear vinyl. This clear idea didn't take off so well for Pepsi in the early 90s. We are hoping to have a little bit better luck.
